Constitution:


1. The name of the Association shall be West Didsbury Residents’ Association.

2. The objectives of the Association shall be:  


a. to maintain and improve the amenities and environment for residents of West Didsbury;

b. to provide liaison between local residents, the business community and the appropriate civil authorities and their representatives.

3. Membership shall be open to anyone in West Didsbury who supports the objectives of the Association.

4. Failure to pay any subscription within one year of its due date shall be regarded as suspension from the Association. Subscriptions are due on 1st September each year.

5. The West Didsbury Residents’ Association Management Committee, hereinafter called the Committee, to whom the general management of the Association shall be entrusted, shall consist of the Honorary Officers and not more than six other members of the Association. There shall be a quorum when five members are present.

6. The Honorary Officers of the Association, who shall be members of the Association, shall be the Chairman, the Treasurer, the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary, the Membership Secretary and the Environment Officer.

7. Anyone who wishes to become an Honorary Officer or Ordinary Member of the Committee must:

a. have been a paid-up member of the Association for at least twelve months immediately prior to the Annual General Meeting;

b. in the case of a nominee for election as an Officer, have missed no more than four of the last eleven meetings of the Committee without good reason;

c. submit a nomination, signed by three members of the Association, to the Secretary, at least 21 working days before the Annual General Meeting; nominators must be fully paid-up members of at least twelve months’ standing;

d. be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

8. A member of the Committee who fails to attend six or more meetings of the Committee over a period of twelve calendar months without good reason shall be deemed to have resigned from the Committee

9. All Didsbury West and Chorlton Park Councillors, irrespective of political party, shall be invited to be ex-officio non-voting members of the Association whose advice may be sought at any time by the Committee.

10. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt additional members to the Committee, and to take any steps it considers necessary to further the Association and its aims.

11. An Annual General Meeting of which six weeks notice shall be given to members and to which the Committee shall submit a report and  a statement of accounts shall be held in each calendar year.

12. Any question arising on the interpretation of these Rules or their application in any particular circumstances shall be decided by the Committee.

13. These rules may be altered by a resolution by a majority of members voting at the Annual General Meeting, provided that the proposed alterations have been sent to members with the notice of the meeting.

14. The Association may be dissolved by a majority of not less than three quarters of the members voting at the Annual General Meeting, provided that the notice of intention to move the resolution shall have been sent to members with the notice of the meeting.
