Constitution
1. The name of the Association shall be West Didsbury Residents Association, hereinafter called the Association.
2. The objects of the Association shall be
a. to improve the amenities and environment for residents of
b. to provide liaison between local residents and the appropriate civil authorities and their representatives.
3. Membership shall be open to anyone in
4. Failure to pay any subscription within one year of its due date shall be regarded as resignation from the Association. Subscriptions are due on 1st January each year.
5. The West Didsbury Residents Association Committee, hereinafter called the Committee, to whom the general management of the Association's affairs shall be entrusted, shall consist of the Honorary Officers and not more than 6 other members of the Association.
6. The Honorary Officers of the Association, who shall be members of the Association, shall be the Chairman, the Treasurer, the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary, the Membership Secretary, the Social Secretary, the Environment Officer and the Publicity Officer who shall all be elected annually. The Officers shall be eligible for re-election.
7. All West Didsbury Councillors, irrespective of political party, are to be invited to be ex-officio members of the Association whose advice may be sought at any time by the Committee.
8. A member of the Committee who fails to attend 6 or more meetings of the Committee during any continuous period of 12 calendar months shall be deemed to have resigned from the Committee.
9. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt additional members of the Committee, and to take any steps it considers necessary to further the Association and its aims. 5 members shall constitute a quorum and decisions of the Committee shall be by a simple majority of the members present.
10. An Annual General Meeting of which 6 weeks notice shall be given to members and to which the Committee shall submit a report and a statement of accounts shall be held in each calendar year.
11. The Association may be dissolved by resolution by a majority of not less than three quarters of the members voting at the Annual General Meeting, providing that notice of intention to move the resolution shall have been sent to members with the notice of the meeting.
12. Any question arising on the interpretation of the Rules or their application in any particular circumstances shall be decided by the committee.
13. These rules may be altered by a resolution by a majority of members voting at the Annual General Meeting, provided that the proposed alterations have been sent to members with the notice of the meeting.
